Understanding the Basics

Before diving into strategies, let's briefly recap the basics. In the Pick 3 lottery, players select a three-digit number from 000 to 999. The goal is to match the drawn numbers in the exact order they appear.

Boxed vs. Straight Bets

One of the first decisions is whether to place a boxed or straight bet. A balanced approach is to occasionally play straight bets for higher payouts and focus on boxed bets for more frequent wins.

Pencil-and-Paper Workouts

Now, let's explore a few pencil-and-paper workouts that you can use to analyze past drawings and make informed number selections:

1. Pairing Numbers Workout:

Create a table with three columns labeled "Number," "Frequency," and "Pairings."
List all possible Pick 3 numbers from 000 to 999 in the "Number" column.
In the "Frequency" column, tally how many times each number has appeared in recent drawings.
In the "Pairings" column, note which numbers frequently appear together in the same drawing.
Focus on pairs that have a history of hitting and consider them in your future selections.

2. Sum of Digits Workout:

Create a table with three columns labeled "Sum," "Frequency," and "Numbers."
List all possible sums of the three digits (ranging from 0 to 27) in the "Sum" column.
In the "Frequency" column, tally how often each sum has appeared in recent drawings.
In the "Numbers" column, note which numbers contribute to each sum.
Prioritize sums that have appeared frequently and select numbers accordingly.

3. Hot and Cold Numbers Workout:

Create two lists: one for "Hot" numbers and another for "Cold" numbers.
In the "Hot" list, write down numbers that have appeared frequently in recent drawings.
In the "Cold" list, jot down numbers that haven't shown up for a while.
Use a mix of both hot and cold numbers in your combinations.

4. Mirror Numbers Workout:

For each digit from 0 to 9, write down its mirror image:

0 mirrors to 5
1 mirrors to 6
2 mirrors to 7
3 mirrors to 8
4 mirrors to 9
5 mirrors to 0
6 mirrors to 1
7 mirrors to 2
8 mirrors to 3
9 mirrors to 4

In recent drawings, identify which mirrored numbers have appeared.

Consider including the mirror numbers that correspond to frequently drawn digits in your selections.
